In the labyrinth of Berlin club culture, labels and limitations disappear. For over 30 years, Berlin has been a space of possibility in which quite a few people have invented a new life, a new identity. Berlin's nightlife, with its ever-evolving club culture, mirrors the city’s constant transformation. It thrives in the in-between spaces – places that offer freedom by escaping the established order outside their walls.
On 10 October 2024, Fotografiska Berlin will open the exhibition Le bal infernal 2008-2024, Benita Suchodrev's long-term study that captures the fleeting moments and unique characters that make up the soul of Berlin.
»A complex pictorial-psychological investigation into a disenchanted reality and the nature of being,reminiscent of the cinema of Federico Fellini and the black-and-white English films of 1960s’ social realism.« (Mark Gisbourne, Art historian, Critic, Curator)
